GEORGE GERSCHWIN’S ‘Rhapsody in Blue’, one of the great orchestral works of the 20th century, fusing jazz and classical, will be performed in Galway.
The Galway Youth Orchestra and pianist David Grealy will perform this great work in Seapoint, Salthill, on Saturday April 27 at 8pm. The concert will also include performances by the junior, intermediate, jazz, and senior orchestras under the direction of conductors Peter Berrill, Joanne Cater, John Fleming, and Michael Dooley.
David Grealy is from Galway and studied organ under Mark Keane and Raymond O’Donnell, and piano under Patricia Lillis. He was a member of the Galway Youth Orchestra from 1999 to 2005.
David is a first-class honours music graduate of NUI Maynooth. He has been assistant organist at St Bartholomew’s Church, Dublin since September 2011. From 2006 to 2008 he was organ scholar at St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, and was also assistant director to the choirs there in 2009-10.
