Street Angels is a music competition for groups, choirs, and solo singers to perform music and song suitable for a church service and is open to secondary students in Galway.
The competition will be a public concert in the Augustinian Church. The winning groups will be selected by an independent jury of musicians. The concert is planned for April 19 at 8pm, but this has to be fully finalised.
The groups may number from two to eight and should include singers and instrumentalists. Musical accompaniment should be acoustic only. The choice of music is up to the participants but folk, soul, and gospel are preferred.
Entrants can be made up of pupils from one school or from a number of different schools. Each entrant must perform one piece but also have a second in reserve. The winner’s prize is €500 and there will be runner up prizes.
Application forms are available from the Augustinian Church office, www.facebook.com/GalwayAugustinian, and www.augustinians.ie/galway
