Ballybane sports co-op makes plea to public to participate in fundraising white collar event

The Ballybane sports co-op is organising a white collar boxing event, scheduled for the end of June, and the Galway and wider public are being urged to step into the ring.

This event is targeted at both men and women with little or no boxing experience but driven to learn. Those brave enough to put their names forward will then be assigned to an eight week intensive training programme, provided they pass the medical examinations. The participants will get to capitalise on this opportunity to hone in their fitness levels and learn the preparation processes of a professional fighter. They will train under the supervision and instruction of qualified and experienced coaches who are former amateur and professional boxers.

Don Naughton of the Ballybane sports co-op explains further: “Those taking part will not only achieve a high level of fitness and learn the art of boxing, they will also get the chance to challenge themselves by stepping to the ropes to compete in front of friends and family at the fight night.”

Those intrigued by this challenge should attend the public information meeting at the Ballybane sports co-op on Wednesday April 17 at 7.30pm. For further details about the white collar fight night, contact Don on 087 6675768, Pat on 086 0832349, or e-mail [email protected].

At the fight, contenders will be sporting Olympic style safety gear and they will play within the rules concurrent to amateur boxing.
