GMIT students’ union president elected as head of USI

GMIT students' union president Joe O'Connor has been elected as USI (Union of Students in Ireland ) president for 2013/14.

Mr O’Connor has been with GMIT students' union for three years, initially as vice president and welfare officer, and as president for the past two years. He is 24 years of age and originally from Kilmore in County Roscommon.

Mr O’Connor has lived in Galway for the past seven years. He studied a three-year BBS in accounting (hons ), before embarking on a MBS in strategy and innovation management.

USI is the representative body for Ireland’s 250,000 students in third-level education. The organisation works for the realisation of students’ needs, justice, and human rights.
