THE BEST, and some of the hardest to find, singles in northern soul, early reggae, Latin Boogaloo, Jamaican ska, rocksteady, and 1960s r’n’b will be spun in Galway next weekend.
The Soulboys V Rudeboys club night returns and will be taking place in The Cellar Bar’s underground venue from 9pm to 2.30am on Saturday March 30. This is the fifth Soulboys V Rudeboys club night and promises to be one of the best especially witht he new Funktion 1 soundsystem on board.
The DJs will be Danny Duggan and Darren McDonnell (who will also show off his dance moves as well as spin 45s ) from Sleepless Nights, Dublin’s longest running soul club; Loic Herrou, a vinyl collector of early reggae and Jamaican ska; Shane Walsh, who has a residency at Anseo in Dublin; Limerick’s Andy Funksoulnrnb; and Galway Modfather No 1 Dave Barry, who has a monthly night at Massimo called Uptight and a Sunday afternoon soul session called Sunday Service.
