Last weekend saw the launch of the traditional Irish nusic show by Lonndubh in the Connemara Coast Hotel. The show will continue every Wednesday night in the Connemara Coast Hotel for the year of the Gathering.
This unique group Lonndubh, consists of Irene and Sean Moloney, Tim Lyons and Philip Doddy, of pure drop Irish music, song and dance.
Tim Lyons, from Cork, singer/songwriter and accordion player toured the folk clubs of Britain in the1960s, and played with Dé Dannan in the 1970s. His songs range from the beautiful Shores of America to his own hilarious Fastfood song.
Philip from Sligo on fiddle, tin whistle, guitar, has a wonderful traditional rich voice and repertoire of songs.
Irene plays mandolin, fiddle, bodhrán. Bean an Tí Irene has a way of connecting and involving the audience. Irene and Sean have four in the family, any of whom will make special guest appearances on fiddle, flute or concertina throughout the season.
Seán Moloney, flute, fiddle tin whistle player is fifth generation musician of the famous Ballinakill Moloneys. He composed the music and was musical director for the stage production of Patrick Kavanagh’s Tarry Flynn in the Town Hall Theatre 2010 . His flute playing is not to be missed.
These individuals from various regional traditions bring their talents to blend magnificently in a spell-binding show that will uplift the audience.
