Work to begin on new Claregalway secondary school

Planning permission has been granted for a temporary school building to accommodate the new secondary school for Claregalway.

Permission has been granted for temporary accommodation at Claregalway Business Park for a two-storey building includes 12 classrooms, seven additional specialist rooms, and a general purpose hall.

The news has been welcomed by Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish who said it is “excellent news for the parents, teachers and especially for the 157 pupils enrolled at the school for next September”.

He said: “The population of Claregalway and the surrounding area has increased considerably in the last number of years and this new school will meet the growing demand for second level education in the area.”
