A volunteer group from St Augustine’s Parish will hold a table quiz in aid of Galway Diocesan Youth Services next week. The proceeds raised at this event will go towards the ongoing running costs of the drop-in centre at No 4 St Augustine Street.
Work at the centre focuses on the needs of young people aged 17 to 25 who are experiencing disadvantage in their lives through homelessness, addictions, mental and physical health, and other associated issues.
No 4, as it is known colloquially, is concerned with giving those young people respect and dignity. It has been providing services for the past 30 years, doing so rather quietly, under the radar and to wonderful effect. The lives of many people who have crossed the threshold over the years or made contact with No 4 have been greatly enhanced, and in many situations they have gone on to live more fulfilled and happier lives.
The fundraising table quiz will take place in the Menlo Park Hotel on Wednesday March 13 at 8pm. Tables of four cost €40, and people are being asked to support this worthwhile cause.
