Oscar fashion designer gives boost to local charity

An exclusive gift for that someone special is up for grabs at this year’s annual Charity Gala Ball in aid of local heart and stroke charity Croí which will take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel Galway on Friday March 22.

Irish fashion designer, Laura Jayne Halton, who was recently chosen to create a custom couture gown worn by Oscar nominated producer Fodhla Cronin-O'Reilly at the prestigious Academy Awards in Los Angeles, has very generously agreed to design a unique couture piece, which will be auctioned on March 22 to raise funds for the fight against heart disease and stroke in the west of Ireland.

Ms Halton, whose design studio is based in Maynooth, is a graduate of the Fashion School at GTI, Fr Griffin Road, Galway. She has won a host of awards including the ‘One to Watch’ in association with Image magazine last year. She is recognised as one of the rising stars in Irish fashion design.

The opportunity to have a customised, once-off, couture piece designed and made by Halton from luxury fabrics will be among one of the many auction items to go under the hammer at the upcoming 28th annual Croí Gala Ball.
