Poetry reading at city museum

DESPITE BEING one of the key movers and shakers in the west of Ireland poetry scene, Kevin Higgins has not given a major public reading in Galway since 2007.

That changes tomorrow evening at 8pm in The Kitchen at the Galway City Museum at the March Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering, which will be a showcase reading for Skylight 47, the new poetry publication.

All contributors to the first issue of Skylight 47 are invited to read their poem from the magazine. The special guests will be Tony Curtis, a member of Aosdána, who has published numerous poetry collections, including the most recent, Folk (2011 ); and Kevin Higgins, the author of The Boy With No Face (2005 ), Time Gentlemen, Please (2008 ), and Frightening New Furniture (2010 ). His fourth collection, The Ghost In The Lobby, will be published by Salmon in 2014..

Admission is free.
