THE GALWAY Arts Festival Big Top line up is looking to be among the best in years with Grizzly Bear, Josh Ritter, and Glen Hansard confirmed.
The Galway Arts Festival and the Róisín Dubh present Glen Hansard at the Festival Big Top on Thursday July 25.
Since forming The Frames in the early 1990s, and more recently as a solo artist, singer-songwriter Glen Hansard enjoys one of the most devoted followings for any artist in Ireland. His fame and appeal were broadened with the feature film Once and his scooping the Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Falling Slowly’.
Once has since gone on to become a successful musical, picking up eight Tony Awards for the Broadway production in New York. Its European premiere was in Dublin recently.
The New York Times described Hansard as, “a gifted, emotive frontman who sings as if he must, with a heart on his sleeve that is constantly throbbing.”
Glen will perform songs from his solo album Rhythm And Repose along with Frames’ favourites, accompanied by an eleven-piece band.
Tickets are €35 from galwayartsfestival.com, roisindubh.net, and ticketmaster.ie, and from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
