Doom metallers to launch debut album @ The Cellar

GALWAY DOOM metal trio Weed Priest will launch their eponymous debut album with a gig in The Cellar Bar tomorrow at 8pm.

Weed Priest, released through independent label HexenHaus Records, is a 60-minute long album featuring six tracks.

The band - Adam (guitar, vocals ), Ragas (bass ), and Adrian (drums ) - were brought together by a love of Black Sabbath sound, psychedelic rock, stoner doom, sludge metal and an interest in occultism. After release of a demo CD in 2011 the trio started composing songs for the debut album.

According to the Born Again Nihilist blogspot, Weed Priest is “somewhere between the bellicose slo-mo bombast of Sleep at their best, the queasy atmospherics of prime Electric Wizard” with “riffs that pull like tectonic plates shifting, a ritual of hellish stoner vibes and devilishly dark grooves”.

Support is from doomsters No-Man’s Land (Limerick ), industrial metal goths Borderline Prime (Nenagh ) and Galway audio-visual artist Ruairi Ó Baoighill.

Admission is free. To hear Weed Priest’s music see http://weedpriest.bandcamp.com
