THE MUSICAL of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Gothic tale, Jekyll & Hyde, will be performed by the Galway Musical Society, in the Black Box Theatre from Tuesday March 19 to Saturday 23 at 8pm.
Jekyll & Hyde is an the award winning Broadway musical by Tony and Grammy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn and Oscar and Grammy Award winner Leslie Bricusse.
A devoted man of science, Dr Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind’s most challenging medical dilemmas. Deciding to make himself the subject of his own experiments, he accidentally unleashes his inner demons through unintentionally transforming himself into the vile Mr Hyde.
The music features such songs as ‘This Is The Moment’, ‘A New Life’, ‘Someone Like You’, ‘The Façade’, ‘Bring On The Men’, ‘Once Upon A Dream’, ‘In His Eyes’, and ‘Murder, Murder’.
The lead role will be taken by Stephen Macken, winner of the 2012 Association of Irish Musical Society’s Best Actor award. The directors are Brian and Seán Power, the musical director is Shane Farrell, the chorus master is Paddy Daly, and choreography is by Mary MacDonagh. There will be a 12 piece orchestra and a chorus of some 56 members.
