EXCAVATIONS, THE new exhibition by leading Irish abstract artist Ger Sweeney, opens at the Norman Villa Gallery in Salthill tomorrow at 6pm.
This is Sweeney’s first show in Galway since 2009. The new works are inspired by ideas of exploration and discovery, involving elements of chance, the unexpected, and re-emergence.
Sweeney lived and worked in Galway for many years. He later spent time in the USA and Waterford before returning to his native Mayo where he lives in a cottage and studio by the sea.
The exhibition runs until March 23.
