Moycullen take on Killester with high hopes

After a weekend of mixed fortunes, Moycullen basketballers now head to Dublin to face Killester in SuperLeague action in Clontarf on Saturday.

With both teams on the same points (the Dubliners have a superior points difference ), Moycullen will be looking to repeat the fantastic performance they displayed last weekend when they claimed their first win over UCC Demons 85-80.

Without the services of star point guard Salva Camps, Moycullen put in an incredible performance to upset UCC Demons in Oranmore. The home side started well with Pat Sullivan connecting on a couple threes, but Demons battled back with Niall O’Reilly and Ciaran O’Sullivan helping Demons to a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Moycullen increased their defence intensity, while at the offensive end Cian Nihill and Stephen Tummon started to get going for Moycullen. Turning the game around, they were level 43-43 at half time.

Moycullen continued to put the pressure on Demons and built up a nine-point lead to finish the third quarter before holding out for a worthy victory.

Unfortunately Moycullen struggled to build on that momentum against DCU Saints the following day, losing 72-56. Moycullen found it very difficult to handle the Saints’ size and physicality.
