Galway children with autism to benefit from multinational funding

Almost €7,000 in funding has been given to the Galway Autism Partnership to deliver a programme of specialist therapies for children on the autism spectrum.

GAP has received €6,690 in funding from local multinational SAP Ireland in Parkmore under the recent SAP Foundation granting cycle. It will see the roll out of ‘SAPling After School Clubs’ for children with autism in two city locations and a third in Tuam.

Qualified teachers experienced in the particular needs of children with autism spectrum disorder, and who are familiar with suitable ASD teaching methodologies and interventions, will deliver programmes aimed at teaching essential life skills.

“We are delighted to be associated with this initiative,” said Liam Ryan, managing director of SAP Ireland. '”As a market leader in software, we recognise the valuable contribution by individuals living with ASD to this industry and we fully support this programme.”
