Celebrate spring at Coole this weekend

Coole Park will host two events in the coming days to celebrate the arrival of spring. A family learning day will take place in the park this weekend, and an event celebrating Lady Augusta Gregory’s love of trees will be held the following weekend as part of Tree Week and Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Coole will host a family learning day on Saturday in conjunction with Aontas adult learning festival. This event will include a walk through the park, exploring the woods and looking for signs of spring. Participants will also learn about which plants are good to increase biodiversity and encourage wildlife in their own gardens. Children will be supplied with spotter sheets to record their finds.

On Saturday March 9 a walk and talk in the woods will explore the theme ‘Lady Gregory’s love of trees’. This walk will also include spotter sheets for children.

Both events are free and walks will be led by National Parks and Wildlife Service staff. The walks start at 2.30pm from the visitors’ centre each Saturday. No booking is required.

The tea room at Coole will be open at weekends during March from 12 noon to 5pm.
