Coole Music Orchestra Festival

SOME OF County Galway’s most talented young musicians will perform at the Sixth Annual Coole Music Orchestra Festival in Gort next month.

More than 350 musicians, between six and 20 years of age, performing in 10 orchestras, will perform in the Gort Community Centre on Sunday March 3, in two concerts at 1pm and 6pm.

Galway orchestras performing include the Coole Music Youth and Junior Orchestras, the Galway Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Athenry Music School Youth Orchestra, and the Athenry Guitar Orchestra.

Also taking part are the Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra, County Cork School of Music Junior Orchestra, Young European Strings Intermediate Orchestra, Sing Out With Strings Orchestra, and the Sligo Academy of Music Sinfonietta.

There will also be percussion workshops with Shay Lally and world drumming workshops for the public with Alan Preims.

The festival was created by Coole Music School founder and musical director, German born Katharina Baker. The festival manager is Fiona Buckley.
