Moycullen come up short in first u-18 final

Moycullen came up short against a classy Belfast Star team in the club’s first U-18 National Cup Final by 68-57.

Belfast lived up to their status as favourites, racing into an 8-0 lead, but Moycullen found their rhythym with Paddy Lyons and Stephen O’Brien combining for 13 points.

The second quarter was another close affair as Belfast went into half-time with a held the 35-32 lead. However the turning point came in the third when Belfast went on a scoring run to grab a 10-point lead, although the introduction of Joseph Tummon settled Moycullen as he scored six straight points towards the end of the third period.

Moycullen, however, continued to struggle to break down the Belfast defence and although the whole team put in a tremendous effort, Belfast went on to win the game.
