Recycle old mobile phones for Autism Ireland

The Galway branch of Irish Autism Action is calling on the public to recycle their old mobile phones to help raise funds for the organisation, and be in with a chance to win prizes.

Irish Autism Action and Swapkit are running this joint initiative whereby people can leave in their old phones to four designated drop-off points around the city:

Claddagh and Celtic Jewellery, 1 Quay Lane, beside Jury’s Hotel; Cappagh Stores, Cappagh Road; Cotters, Seacrest; and Xtra-Vision, Knocknacarra.

Those who place their phone in an envelope with their name and address, can enter a free draw to have their utility bills paid for a year.

Labour city councillor Niall McNelis is operating one of the drop-off points at his Claddagh and Celtic Jewellery store and is hoping people will take part in the initiative. “It’s a great cause and very simple to support,” he said.
