Galway woman Mary Rodgers is generating employment for her county by extending operations of her USA based market entry consultancy company - Stateside Solutions to local shores. The firm’s Galway branch will be situated in the level one office suites of Liosban Business Park and the company is enjoying this commercial growth despite the hindering presence of the recession.
Ms Rodgers expressed her delight when speaking about the move into a bigger space and being able to hire locally. “There is real growth in the US market and a great opportunity for Irish companies, especially in the technology, medical devices, medical IT and environment sectors. At Stateside Solutions we assist companies who want to export to or who want to grow their operations in the US.”
She continued by mentioning the difficulties this new venture posed for her and her team. “Even though there are a lot of empty buildings in Galway and its surroundings, we struggled to find a suitable location and were delighted when a space became available at evel One. The space is big enough to accommodate additional staff, as we anticipate further growth over the next 12-18 months. The US market is settling after the November election and businesses are moving fast to take advantage. We are ready to capitalise on this.”
Mary set up Stateside Solutions in 2008, after returning home to Galway from New York with her husband and family. On noticing that the co-ordination of companies was shifting towards the US markets, she founded the business and divides her time between the branches in Galway and New York.
The company client base is varied and includes an Irish medical IT company, a medical devices company in Singapore and a UK not-for-profit organisation. All have very different motivations behind their divergence into the US markets.
Mary detailed some of the support services provided by Stateside Solutions. “On a practical level we provide access to US legal and financial specialists for business start-up in the US. We also set up advisory panels of US experts, guide new entrants in the market and test their marketing strategy.”
Stateside Solutions is committed to retaining employment in Ireland and last year made the decision to direct US sales support activities from the Galway office. According to Ms Rodgers, this move produced cost effective results for clients, giving them local access and global reach.
