Arts festival and Galway venues up for IMRO awards

The Róisín Dubh, Monroe’s Live, and the Galway Arts Festival have all made the shortlist for the IMRO Music Festival of the Year Awards 2012.

The Irish Music Rights Organisation’s fifth awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday February 226 in the IMRO HQ in Dublin. The shortlist was announced yesterday morning.

More than 8,000 IMRO members considered hundreds of venues across the country for the shortlist.

The Róisín Dubh and Monroe’s Live have been nominated in the IMRO Connacht Live Music Venue of the Year 2012 category while the Galway Arts Festival has been nominated in the IMRO Live Music Festival of the Year 2012 section.

“A strong live music circuit is the lifeblood of a vibrant music industry,” said Victor Finn, CEO of IMRO. “It is important we acknowledge those venue owners and festivals promoters whose commitment, passion, and support for live music enables music creators to continue making the music we all enjoy.”
