West End’s phantom to teach vocal classes

RICHARD HALTON, who performed the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of The Opera in London’s West End for six years, is coming to Galway.

Mr Halton, along with West End musical theatre coach Julie Gossage, will be giving a full-day workshop in musical theatre on Sunday February 3 from 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm. The workshop will cover choosing a repertoire; acting through song; styles of musical theatre; and audition technique.

Richard Halton has performed as Ravenal (Showboat ) at the London Palladium; Count Danilo (The Merry Widow ) for the Royal Opera; Macheath (The Beggar’s Opera ) and Holofernes in the world premiere of Ian McQueen’s Line Of Terror at the Almeida Festival.

Julie Gossage has performed with the Welsh National Opera, the English National Opera, and at the Wexford Festival. She is a Level 2 certified speech level singing teacher.

Private lessons with Richard or Julie are available on Monday February 4 from 11am to 2pm and 3pm to 6pm.
