A young boy from Claregalway has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Vision Express ‘Search for Star Pupil’ competition which took place in the store last November.
Five-year-old Domhnall Jinks was selected from 60 other entrants from the Vision Express Store in Galway to join seven other finalists around the country for the overall selection.
Domhnall impressed the photographer and Vision express staff on the day with his charming personality and great humour. The bubbly five-year-old attends the Playroom Montessori School in Cregmoore and has two sisters and one brother. He recently took up golf and received golf clubs from Santa Claus this Christmas. Domhnall was described as a born performer by the staff.
Commenting on the competition, Julie Moore, store manager of Vision Express in Galway said: “The calibre of the entrants was outstanding on the day and it made the decision of the judges incredibly difficult. Domhnall really stood out however, and we look forward to hearing the final result in the coming weeks. We also hope that we have highlighted how important it is to take care of your eyes, especially young children, so that they don’t go on to develop problems in later life”.
The Vision Express ‘Search for a Star Pupil’ competition took place on November 2 and 3 in eight stores throughout the country including the Shop Street store. In total almost 500 children entered the competition over the two days.
The competition was created to drive greater awareness about the importance of eye healthcare in children. The event was run in conjunction with the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA ) who set up in store to help the hopefuls strike their best pose.
The overall winner of the Vision Express ‘Search for a Star Pupil’ promotion will receive a trip for two adults and two children to Disneyland, Paris and a pair of designer children’s frames from Vision Express. For more information on Vision Express visit www.visionexpress.ie
