Three Connemara audiovisual companies receive €900,000 in broadcasting grants

Three of its Connemara-based companies, Meangadh Fíbín Teo (Indreabhán ), Magamedia Teo (Na Forbacha ), and Sónta Teo (Cill Chiaráin ), have been allocated grants totalling more than €900,000 in funding by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland from Sound & Vision II, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme.

Meangadh Fíbín Teo was granted €550,000 for Saol Faoi Shráid, an Irish language children’s drama series with puppetry. Magamedia Teo has been allocated €300,000 for Ceolchuairt – Scaipeann an Dúchas, an Irish language entertainment series. Sónta Teo was granted €56,000 for The Godfather, a bilingual documentary.

All three productions will be aired on TG4 in the future.

Údarás na Gaeltachta has congratulated the companies, which are Údarás clients, on the grants.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland awarded grants totalling €4.477 million to 19 TV projects and 84 Radio projects. Some €1.3 million of the total budget was allocated to 12 Irish language or bilingual projects. In total, €906,000 was granted to the three Gaeltacht companies, which equals 20.2 per cent of the overall budget and 69.7 per cent of the Irish language/bilingual allocation.
