Galway’s civic and religious leaders will be delivering their Christmas messages on Galway Bay fm on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The 24th annual Christmas messages programme will be broadcast at 6.04pm on Christmas Eve and 1.04pm on Christmas Day and will feature a cover version of I Wish it could be Christmas Everyday by two societies at NUI Galway, the Music Soc and NUIG Rock Soc. Proceeds from the single, available on iTunes, are going to Ability West, which supports people with intellectual disability.
This special 45-minute programme is presented for the 24th consecutive year by Head of News Bernadette Prendergast, and her guests this year will be Mayor of Galway Terry O'Flaherty; Mayor of County Galway Tom Welby; Bishop of Galway, Dr Martin Drennan; Church of Ireland Rector of Galway and Provost of Tuam, Rev Gary Hastings, and Presbyterian and Methodist community representative Peter Berrill.
The programme, which is now an integral part of Christmas in Galway, will take a look back at 2012, and will reflect on Christmas past and present in Galway.
