NUIG students to launch anthology

ABANDONED DARLINGS, a collection of writings from students of NUI Galway’s MA in Writing 2011-2012, will be launched on Wednesday December 19.

The anthology features poetry, fiction, and non-fiction set in harsh Russian winters, the Irish midlands, the Atlantic, and the Americas.

The anthology has received praise from writer Mike McCormack, author of Forensic Songs, who called it “a terrific primer to a new generation of writers” with “pages crackling with enough wit and imagination to keep you hungry for more”.

Abandoned Darlings was guest edited by poet Moya Cannon. It is dedicated to Eithne Hannigan, an MA in Writing student who passed away last year, and the late Tom Duddy, an NUIG faculty member.

The launch takes place in upstairs in Busker Brownes at 6.30pm. The guest speaker will be poet Eva Bourke. There will be readings, mince pies, and mulled wine. All are welcome.
