FREDDIE MERCURY was “havin’ a good time” on ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, while Paul Weller recalled “Didn’t we have nice time” on ‘To Be Someone’.
For Maeve Higgins it is a case of We Have A Good Time Now, which is also the title of the new show she is bringing to Galway next week.
Maeve performs a ‘Róisín Dubh presents...’ show at An Taibhdhearc, Middle Street, on Friday December 14 at 8pm, featuring stand up, new writing, and readings from her best-selling book We Have A Good Time...Don’t We?
In this field trip through her head and across her country and beyond (wherever English is spoken and dairy is eaten ) Maeve talks about the curse of over-politeness (she thanks bank machines ) and how to make a baby like you (simply whisper ‘I’m your real mamma’ into his/her ears ). She has a chilling encounter with some malevolent dolphins, endures a stalker, and has a fight with a packet of biscuits.
Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
