Radio auction tomorrow to help Lions Club help 750 local families

At Christmas time, Galway Lions Club provides Christmas vouchers for 750 needy families and individuals. To fund this, the club completes a number of large fundraisers in the Galway area in the lead up to Christmas. The two largest are the supermarket collections and the radio auction.

The Annual Radio Auction will be held live on Galway Bay FM on tomorrow Friday December 7, hosted by Keith Finnegan. It will take place in the Eyre Square Centre Galway between 9am and 1pm.

The Lions Club will have over 200 items for sale from weekends away to racing bicycles, from shopping vouchers to garden furniture. Get on down and start the Christmas shopping. Keep track of items and bids by logging on to the website www.galwaylionsclub.ie

You can bid either by phone on 091 895555, by text on 53995, by email on [email protected] or by going to the Eyre Square Centre and joining in the craic. Alternatively if you have something to donate or sponsor contact the club in advance on [email protected]

The radio auction is 24 years in existence during which time it has raised €0.6 million, thanks to the generous support of the business community in Galway and the people of Galway.

All the proceeds from the radio auction will go to charitable purposes as Galway Bay FM provides free airtime and there are no administration costs as all Lions Club members provide their time on a voluntary basis.

For almost 40 years, members of Galway Lions Club have been helping those in need in our community. Its members come from all walks of life and give of their time and effort on a voluntary basis.
