Four men charged with allegedly approaching a house armed with hurleys and causing serious criminal damage including setting a car on fire have been remanded on continuing bail.
Brothers Gerard (27 ), Morgan (28 ), and Michael O’Sullivan (30 ) all with an address at Woodstock, Moycullen Road, are charged with three counts of criminal damage, one count of burglary, one of possessing an article with intent to cause injury, and one count of arson at Clooniffe, Moycullen, on September 6, 2011.
Co-accused Anthony Keady (25 ) with an address at Keeagh, Moycullen, is charged with three counts of criminal damage, possession of an article with intent to cause injury, and burglary at the same location and date.
Detective Garda Shaun Durkin gave evidence of arrest, charge, and caution stating that no reply was made by any of the accused men who are currently on station bail.
Inspector Ernie Whyte said that the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented the matter being dealt with summarily in the District Court. He said that it will be alleged that four men approached a house armed with hurleys. During the incident the windows of the house were smashed and two cars were damaged, with one vehicle being set on fire.
Judge Mary Fahy accepted jurisdiction, made an order for statements, and remanded the four men on continuing bail to appear in court again on January 23, 2013 for mention.
