The Galway football Masters (over 40s ) are back on the road again and they recorded their second win of the season in Longford on Sunday when beating Antrim by 2-09 to 0-5.
Headford's Tom Corbett found the net twice in the opening 20 minutes to set the Galway men on their way to victory. The assists for both goals were provided by the lively Ciaran Kelly (Cortoon ).
Athenry's Declan Byrne lorded proceedings at midfield in the first half alongside David Cronin, and further points from Corbett, James Reilly, Seamus O’Ráinne and Joe Arkins ensured Galway led by 2-5 to 0-1 at the break.
They were never likely to be caught from that 10-point advantage and they ran out easy winners in the end.
The Galway team are due to play Cavan this weekend with a place in the knockout stages at stake.
