Capones celebrates second birthday with event for Alzheimers charity

Al Capone had two passions in life – a fine Italian feed and charity. Known as a modern day Robin Hood during his time, supporting local humanitarian causes was as important to the mobster as evading the coppers.

Honouring its namesake, Capones Chicago Diner on Kingston Road will kick off its second birthday celebrations on the 21 November by hosting an Alzheimers Society Coffee Morning from 10 am until noon. Along with a fresh cuppa, there will be plenty of scones and cakes to satisfy the afternoon sweet tooth. All proceeds will go to the Galway chapter of the Alzheimers Society.

This year, the Alzheimers Society of Ireland commemorates 30 years of providing dementia patients with helplines, day care centres, home care services, social clubs, and a national respite centre amongst many other valuable services. Its mission is to maximise the quality of life for those affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Galway Bay FM joins the Alzheimers Society Coffee Morning at 10:30 am and will continue to broadcast from Capones well into the evening. Birthday celebrations at Capones also include a variety of family-fun entertainment and incredible offers throughout the day. €1 pizza anyone?
