Councillors make case for safe crossing point on WDR

Despite lack of funds to build a safe access route across the Clybaun Hotel section of Western Distributor Road, two local councillors are determined to continue the fight.

Labour councillor Niall McNelis and Independent councillor Donal Lyons were recently informed that there is no funding to construct safe access route at the entrance to the St John the Apostle School in Knocknacarra.

However both men will hold a meeting with City Hall engineers, the school principal, and parents to highlight “how important it is to get these urgent works carried out as soon as possible”.

In a joint statement, both councillors said they “welcome the opportunity to have this meeting and we hope that they will see how dangerous it has become for those attending the school and for Knocknacarra residents who need to cross the road on a daily basis.”
