g Hotel and Console team up for positive mental health

With the festive season approaching it is time to eat, drink, and be merry. The five-star g Hotel is reminding us to look after ourselves and our loved ones during the holidays with a festive foodie event on November 18 in aid of Console, a dedicated service provider working towards suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention in Ireland.

The g Hotel, together with the team in Console, has co-ordinated an event which highlights the most enjoyable aspects of the festive season, reminding us to cherish our loved ones and be thankful for the joy they bring us every day. Guests will enjoy a mulled wine reception on their arrival at 1pm, while being entertained by Christmas carols in the Grand Salon to set the festive ambience.

All funds raised from the foodie feast will go directly to support the counselling services, provided free of charge by Console.

“Christmas can be an exceptionally difficult time for those with depression or for people who have lost a loved one through suicide, and we have been hearing a number of heartbreaking stories in the news recently,” said Margaret Tierney of Console. “The foodie feast at the g Hotel is a wonderful opportunity to generate awareness and much needed funding for our services, while enjoying an evening of fine dining and festive entertainment.”

Restaurant gigi’s will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland for this event, where a delicious three course lunch will be served including festive favourites with a distinctive g twist prepared by the hotel’s newly appointed head chef, Pauline Reilly, and her team. Ms Reilly will then share her expertise and top tips on hassle-free Christmas cooking for family and friends, with a limited edition cookery booklet for guests. Wine connoisseur Rene Hendriks will then enlighten guests on the most suitable tipple to complement your festive foods, from the best bottle of red to the fruitiest champagnes.

“The dedication and hard work carried out by Console is so admirable and hugely beneficial to so many people,” said Triona Gannon, general manager of the g Hotel. “We are delighted to work with Margaret and Phyllis and all those at Console, particularity as their service is required more and more. We are thrilled to have them on board as one of the g Hotel’s charity partners for 2012 and look forward to raising more funds for them. The foodie feast promises to be a fantastic Christmas event for guests and we certainly look forward to the festivities.”
