Twitter enthusiasts from across Galway will converge on Cava Spanish Restaurant and Tapas Bar later this month for the Great Galway Tweet Up.
The tweetup, the second annual event of its kind in Galway, will take place on Thursday November 29. JP McMahon of Cava will be serving tweeters a quirky five-course meal with fine wine pairings by renowned Spanish winemaker Torres.
The menu for the night will be based on the nose-to-tail dining concept and will be highlighting parts of the pig from head to toe: the pig’s head, the pig’s liver, the pig’s heart, the pig’s neck, and for dessert, the pig’s belly, which will take the form of a smoked bacon and maple syrup parfait with cured ham dust.
“This is the second Galway Tweet Up,” said JP McMahon, a keen social media enthusiast. “The last was a huge success, which was based on the free range chicken of Friendly Farmer Ronan Byrne. We thought we’d do it again, and make it a celebration of pigs.”
The free range pork is being supplied by Castlemine Farm in Roscommon, an award winning farm which focus on sustainable and ethical farming practices.
Diners can also expect some of the finest wines from Miguel Torres including Torres Ibericos from Rioja, Torres Celeste from Ribera del Duero, Torres Salmos from Priorat, and the delicious Torres Vina Esmeralda made primarily from the Moscatel grape.
Customers will be able to tweet about the event and share images using the hashtags #pigfest and #GreatGalwaytweetup.
The event is open to all who use social media, and even those who do not. Tickets cost €40 and include Torres wine pairings with each of the five courses.
