Free night of classical joy for Cope

Emerald Concerts is organising a quality concert devoted to three 20th century classical music composers. Carducci, a quartet from London, has been invited to Galway to perform pieces by Benjamin Britten, Maurice Ravel, and William Sheller in the Hotel Meyrick next week. Free tickets to the event can be picked up in the box office located at the hotel reception.

The concert will take place on Sunday December 14 at 7.30pm (doors at 7pm ) and is brought together in association with Cope. Cope Galway is a charity reaching out to those most vulnerable — the homeless, the elderly, and women and children affected by domestic violence. On the night, anyone in the audience who wishes to do so will be able to make a voluntary donation to Cope. Before the concert break, members of Cope will make a short presentation explaining their goals. The concert brochure will enclose an envelope for donations. Both cash and cheques will be accepted, and any amount will be greatly appreciated.

This will be the first Galway performance for the London-based Carducci quartet. The talented group of four is made up of Matthew Denton, violin; Michelle Fleming, violin; Eoin Schmidt-Martin, viola; and Emma Denton, cello.Although tickets for the event are free, advance booking in The Meyrick is strongly recommended. There is a maximum of four tickets per person.
