Galwegians who have waste white goods, electronic, and electrical equipment to get rid of should take advantage of an upcoming free public collection day.
WEEE Ireland, in conjunction with the council, is hosting the free collection day on Saturday November 10 in Toft Park, Salthill (10am to 4pm ) and at the Greyhound Track Carpark, College Road (10am to 4pm ).
Materials accepted for free recycling, include toasters, kettles, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, fridges, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, radios, iPods, MP3 players, TVs, remotes, video/DVD players, consoles and games, IT equipment, lamps, watches, fluorescent lighting, CFLs, LEDs, household batteries, car batteries, fence batteries, electronic toys, power tools, and mobile phones.
All equipment must be clean and ready for recycling and there must be no food substances in fridges, deep fat fryers, etc. The collection is for the domestic sector only.
