Children’s play day to highlight referendum

A free play activity hour for children takes place in Busy Bees, Oranmore, tomorrow at 10.30am as a way of raising awareness about the upcoming Children’s Referendum.

This session will also support the Jack and Jill Foundation, and Independent senator Mary Ann O’Brien, founder of Jack and Jill, will be present to explain to parents the foundation’s work of providing nursing care for sick children in their own homes.

The foundation is running a campaign at present to raise funds to continue to help children who are sick, to be nursed in their family homes.

Fine Gael Galway senator Fidelma Healy Eames is urging parents and children to go to the activity hour.

“I am delighted Busy Bees has joined the campaign for a Yes vote in the Children’s Referendum,” she said. “It is also about raising awareness of how the Children’s Referendum will protect children and support families. Every child in this country has the right to a childhood and children at play represents a very important aspect of a childhood.”
