The Irish Council for Social Housing (ICSH ), the state’s national social housing federation, has launched a new national energy saving scheme this week in Ballinasloe, Co Galway. In association with Bord Gais, the scheme was developed to benefit housing associations, which provide more than 20,000 homes for families, older people, the homeless, and people with disabilities throughout the country.
The ICSH Business Energy Saving Scheme, which was launched by the Mayor of Galway County Peter Feeney at the two day ICSH finance seminar in Ballinasloe, is aimed at members of the federation and designed solely for the business premises and communal facilities of these members and the local authorities, to reduce their electricity costs
“The ICSH is delighted to launch this scheme in association with Bord Gais for the benefit of members to help reduce its overhead costs in this current economic environment and allow organisations to use savings in other areas of delivering key housing services to tenants,” said Donal McManus, executive director of the ICSH.
This group energy scheme is the second group initiative launched by the Irish Council for Social Housing following on from the ICSH group insurance scheme launched in 2005 which reduced insurance costs by an average of 40 per cent.
