Career expo on marine industry

The Careers At Sea Expo, which will be opened by Ciaran Cannon, Minster of State for Training and Skills, will showcase the range of careers currently available to people who wish to enter the marine industry.

According to organisers Bow Waves, many areas of the marine industry have been unaffected by the economic downturn, ensuring a worldwide demand for qualified marine personnel.

Bow Waves will outline the courses delivered by its maritime training staff to give students an entre into the marine industry, while several guest speakers will outline how they gained access into their maritime profession, their professional experience, and any pitfalls they may have encountered along the way.

Maritime companies will highlight their interest as employers in the marine industry and will cover a wide range of career opportunities including: crewing and skippering offshore vessels and super yachts, training instruction, charter industry, deckhands, and the wide range of job opportunities in the cruise ship industry.

The Careers at Sea Expo with enable companies the opportunity to actively liaise and network with potential candidates/ employees.

There will be plenty of opportunity to engage in question and answer sessions throughout the evening with all the guest speakers attending.

The Bow Waves team will be on hand to answer any questions or queries regarding the training courses it provides, as well as providing career guidance.

Previous experience of the marine sector or the boating sector is not required to attend the event.
