In the Dr Tony O'Neill u-20 Eircom League of Ireland, Mervue United enjoyed a productive week, gathering four points from their two home games.
On Monday Mervue entertained Finn Harps in Fahy’s Field and two second-half strikes from Neil Douglas and Rory Gaffney gave the home side a much deserved 2-1 victory.On Friday night Derry City were the visitors in what was an entertaining game. Derry would have felt hard done by going in at half-time a goal down from what was a terrific Neil Douglas strike. But they came out with all guns blazing and scored a well deserved equaliser within 10 minutes. Mervue came back at Derry with the introduction of Paul Scally, Pat Hoban, and Dan Cunningham, and although they created some marvelous chances, the game finished in a 1-1 draw.
