The Boathouse Seafood and Grill opens on main street Oranmore

Oranmore’s latest destination for casual dining comes courtesy of local residents Rudi and Frances Rabasse. Future dinners at the Boathouse Seafood and Grill can look forward to meals prepared by a host of culinary experts, who boast impressive performances in the art of cuisine. Rudi Rabasse boasts a 25 year term in the catering industry with a decorative resumé including time spent working in a five star hotel in Courchevel in the Alps, a Parisian bistro, a Michelin star restaurant in London, Roly’s brasserie in Dublin, and is completed by seven years spent as the manager of Kirwan’s Lane seafood bar and restaurant in the heart of Galway city. While working there he joined forces with owner Michael O’Grady and chief chef Mark Hopkins.

Anthony Printer the Boathouse’s head chef belongs to a family whose legacy is steeped in the catering industry. Before moving to Westport Mr Printer to help his mother run a successful B&B, the first in the west of Ireland to be recommended in the Michelin guide, his childhood was spent in the environs of the family run hotel outside Glasgow.

He brings a wealth of experience from working in hotels and restaurants across the west of Ireland, London, and Dublin including Gordon Ramsey’s three star Michelin restaurant in Royal Hospital Road, Ballynahinch Castle, KC Blakes, Knockranny House Hotel, O’Gradys on the Pier and the Galway Bay hotel.

The boathouse has been completely renovated and refurbished to create a relaxed and casual atmosphere where one can enjoy good quality food and service suitable for any social occasion, a private dining room can be accommodated.
