City secondary schools to sing with Irish Chamber Orchestra

FOUR OF Galway city’s secondary schools will join the Irish Chamber Orchestra for a concert featuring music by Philip Glass and Schubert.

Pupils of Coláiste Einde; Dominican College Taylor’s Hill; the Presentation; and Salerno secondary schools, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra, with director and violinist Katherine Hunka, will take to the stage of the Seapoint Ballroom, Salthill, on Wednesday October 17 at 8pm.

The programme for the concert, entitled Minimalism & Melody, will feature Philip Glass’ Symphony No 3; Schubert’s Rondo in A for Violin and Strings D438; Linda Buckley’s ‘Fall Approaches’, and Dvorák’s Serenade Op 22.

The Coláiste Einde, Dominican College, Presentation, and Salerno pupils will join the orchestra to perform ‘The Music in Me’, written by students at Coláiste na Trócaire in Rathkeale as part of a series of workshops with the orchestra.
