Toyota reveals next-generation Auris

Toyota has released the first pictures of its next-generation Auris ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month.

The new Auris has been designed for Europe. It features a more stylish, dynamic and confident design. The new model sits lower on the road and along with the sloping roofline, it has a much more distinctive and imposing stance. An insider says the interior quality has also been improved.

In Ireland, the power units should include the 1.4-litre diesel and 1.33-litre (plus possibly the 1.6-litre ) petrol engines. Throughout the European markets, Toyota expects an average of equal sales for each powertrain, the full hybrid, the diesel, and the petrol. In Ireland, the diesel should dominate with the hybrid set to surprise as it strives to shed its ‘niche’ tag.

The new Auris range will be built in Britain, where the Avensis is already being manufactured.

More details of Irish specifications, prices, and the on-sale date later this year will be available closer to the launch.
