Guinness Live gigs return to the Latin Quarter

DELORENTOS, THE UNDERTONES, and Bez of the Happy Mondays are just some of those who will be taking to the stage around the city’s Latin Quarter for the Guinness Live festival weekend.

The festival takes place from Thursday September 27 to Sunday 30 and will feature 50 live performances in 11 venues. Admission to all gigs will be free and on a first-come, first-served basis. All events are over 18s.

Acts performing at the weekend will be leading Irish indie pop-rock band Delorentos, whose latest album Little Sparks, is their finest to date; Derry punk legends The Undertones, with Today FM’s Paul McLoone on lead vocals; long running Dublin band Aslan; guitar group Túcan; and reggae supremo Natty Wailer and The Reggae Vibes.

There will also be performances by The Minutes, The Strypes, Walking On Cars, Toy Soldier, and Galway heroes Rhythm Scheme.

DJs performing at the festival include Today FM’s KC (Keith Cunningham ) and Bez of the Happy Mondays.

“Guinness Live will further consolidate Galway’s position as Ireland’s premier festival and music city and most popular weekend destination,” said chair of Galway’s Latin Quarter Dave Keogh, “and will also continue to highlight the Latin Quarter’s growing significance as a quality tourist destination.”

The Latin Quarter stretches from Spanish Arch at The Long Walk to O’Brien’s Bridge to St Nicholas’ Church and back (via Buttermilk Lane ) to An Taibhdhearc on Middle Street.
