Get fit and raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation in Athenry

An Athenry Slí na Sláinte walk will take place next week to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation.

The Big Heart Walk, which will take place on Sunday September 16 at 2pm, is organised by the Athenry Environmental Network to encourage people to get walking and raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation.

The walk will follow the 3km signed Slí na Sláinte route, starting and finishing at the railway station opposite the VEC building and passing all the major historical architectural treasures of the town including Athenry Castle, North Gate, the Priory, and Lorro Gate.

Everyone young and old is invited to join in.

The Athenry Environmental Network developed the route for the benefit of all the people of Athenry and beyond who want to improve their health and fitness. The route should take about 30 to 40 minutes to complete.

The Irish Heart Foundation recommends four or five brisk walks every week on a route such as the Athenry Slí na Sláinte to keep your heart healthy.
