JOGGING, the Dublin trio who fuse hardcore, post-rock, and indie, have just released a new album and will play the Róisín Dubh next week.
Jogging - Darren Craig (guitar/vocals ), Ronan Jackson (bass/vocals ), and Peter Lee (drums ) - released their second album Take Courage on Limerick based label Out On A Limb Records and will be promoting it with a series of shows, including upstairs at the Róisín on Friday September 14 at 9pm.
Take Courage was recorded with Chris Common, who has produced Mastodon and Minus The Bear. It is the follow-up to the band’s debut Minutes. The album’s themes range from changing social structures to the ageing process to the effects of living out an extended teenhood throughout your twenties.
Sonically, it marks a progression from Minutes with its thundering drums, distorted bass rumbles, and sharp guitar riffs. The band’s trademark call-and-response vocals remain and are delivered with authority and conviction.
The band havew enjoyed much critical acclaim with Hot Press praising their “dizzy guitar work and ferociously barked vocals”, while State Magazine described their music as “dark and foreboding, yet simultaneously catchy and memorable”.
