Clifden driving test centre boasts one of the highest pass rates in the country, according to figures from the Road Safety Authority (RSA ).
The figures released this week show that a learner driver’s chances of passing the test could have a lot to do with where it is taken. Reports suggest that there are huge variations in the pass and fail rates at test centres throughout the country, with a 28 per cent gap between the highest pass rate and the lowest.
Clifden had one of the best pass rates at 65.94 per cent, behind Ennis at 67.92 per cent and Sligo at 66.54 per cent, surpassing the national average pass rate last year of 54.56 per cent. Just narrowly behind Clifden was the test centre in Galway city which scored 64.59 per cent, which was followed by Newcastlewest (64.44 per cent ), Birr (63.77 per cent ), Skibbereen (63.29 per cent ), Athlone (62.99 per cent ), Roscommon (61.87 per cent ), Tuam (61.53 per cent ), Castlebar (60.92 per cent ), Donegal (60.39 per cent ), Buncrana (59.95 per cent ), Loughrea (59.66 per cent ), and Killarney (59.37 per cent ). The lowest pass rates were in Tallagh (40.82 per cent ), Finglas (40.80 per cent ), Rathgar (39.78 per cent ), and Killkenny (39.70 per cent ).
