Killererin is an amazing football club. With a very small pick of players and an overdependence on a few key men, they are only behind Corofin in the number of county senior titles won in the past decade.
The club has won the Frank Fox cup on six occasions in total, and three of those came in 2004, 2007 and 2010.
Interestingly, since Annaghdown won the county title back in 2001, only two clubs, Caltra (2003 ) and Salthill (2005 ), have bothered the big two in Galway club football.
Now after their 0-12 to 0-10 victory over Micheál Breathnach's last weekend in their quarter-final replay, Killererin are only two games from annexing the title once again.
They will face Salthill-Knocknacarra in the semi-final on the weekend of September 15/16 and a lot of people will fancy them to have the guile and scoring power to advance in that clash.
Once again last Saturday night in Pearse Stadium it was Padraig Joyce who led the way up front for the men from Barnadearg.
The three-times All-Star notched 0-7 and those scores were decisive in seeing off Seán Ó Domhnaill's well drilled charges.
Once again there was little between the sides throughout this replay and they were 0-5 apiece at the small whistle, and it looked as if extra-time might be needed to separate them at the finish.
However Galway's u-21 All-Ireland winner from last year, Michéal Boyle, and Padraig Joyce kicked a point each in the closing stages to inch Stephen Flaherty's men through.
Three points in a row from Padraig (0-2 ) and Nicky (0-1 ) Joyce had given Killererin the upper hand early in the second half. However Na Breathnaigh captain Sean Denvir, Peadar Óg Ó Griofa and Eanna Ó Griallais pointed for their side to square the tie nearing the full-time whistle.
Then Boyle pointed from distance and Padraig Joyce hit his seventh to ensure it was the North Board men who reached the last four once again, and they cannot be ruled out of going all the way once again too.
Salthill team manager Gerry Hughes will know his side will have to improve on what it has produced thus far in the championship. With the two Joyces, Boyle and Shane Hughes up front, Killererin boasts the scoring power to capitalise on limited possession.
