Thirty cyclists leave Carraroe this morning (Thursday ) to cycle more than 300km to Co Louth as part of the 2012 Rose’s Cycle being held in memory of two-year-old Rose Wogan.
The cycle, which will be held over three days, will raise funds for the Jack and Jill Foundation and will culminate in a fundraising night at Stabannon on Saturday night.
Little Rose Wogan from Stabannon battled illness for 21 months of her two years before she passed away last December.
Throughout this time, the Jack and Jill Foundations provided outstanding care to Rose’s family, her parents, her brothers, and her aunt Teresa Hanratty who has organised this event.
The cycle will go from Carraroe to Carrick-on-Shannon on day one, Carrick-on-Shannon to Mullingar on day two and Mullingar to Stabannnon on day three.
“The aim of the cycle is to raise as much funds for this charity as is possible in order to help them to continue to provide the much needed care and support which very sick children and their families currently need,” said Ms Hanratty last evening as the cyclists prepared for the cycle eastwards from Carraroe.
